Pirate offense wants more

Blake Kemp admitted after practice on Tuesday night that he doesn’t ever know if he is going to be East Carolina’s starting quarterback until the team is nearing kickoff each week.

Perhaps ECU offensive coordinator Dave Nichol wants to give Kemp and co-quarterback James Summers as little time as possible to ponder their collective roles on the team each week and with each new opponent.

So far, who starts has often dictated who will play the most.

Nichol and East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill have been steadfast all season in not tipping the team’s hand as to who will start between Kemp — who manhandled Central Florida in last week’s 44-7 win — and Summers.
