The rush defense was under a lot of scrutiny after allowing six touchdowns last week and seemed to adjust in the victory Saturday night.
In a game that was rainy and muddy, ECU held the Hokies’ running backs to 67 yards and three yards a carry.
The game saw a lot of quarterback rushes, as Virginia Tech’s Brenden Motley totaled 85 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries
“Motley, we knew he was big, he’s a big human being,” ECU head coach Ruffin McNeill said. “He was making guys miss. I thought the kids did a better job of being very disciplined in their run gaps and run lanes.
