Already trailing by double digits at halftime to Temple on Saturday, the second half got off to a bad start for the East Carolina women’s basketball team.
The Pirates, who played seven players and had only eight available, were called for an offensive foul on the first possession of the second half and the visiting Owls scored the next eight points to help secure an 83-63 victory over ECU in Minges Coliseum.
Backup guard Fanni Csutoras was not healthy enough to be in uniform for the first time this season, shortening the Pirates’ already thin bench. DeVaughn Gray picked up her third foul early in the second quarter and Marina Laramie was called for her third on the charge to begin the third quarter.
