Head coach Heather Macy will have to wait for another opportunity to become the all-time wins leader in East Carolina University program history, as ECU’s women’s basketball team was demolished by the University of Connecticut Huskies 96-35 behind head coach Geno Auriemma.
“It was a really tough game, not a lot of positives to take away,” Macy said. “We'll quickly take a couple of quick glances at things we can take away and then get prepared to head on the road for Memphis this Saturday.”
The Pirates finished the game with their lowest scoring output of the season with 35 points on a season worst 25 percent shooting from the field, which was due in large part to the Huskies’ defense that was tied an opponent-high 13 blocked shots against ECU this season.
