Chattanooga outscored the East Carolina women’s basketball team by 10 points in the fourth quarter Friday and pulled away for a 72-61 victory in the first game of the UNCW Christmas Classic in Trask Coliseum in Wilmington.
The Pirates (6-3) had four players score in double figures and got a double-double from Jada Payne, her seventh of the year. But ECU shot just 37 percent in the second half (10-of-27) and the Mocs made 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) from the field after halftime.
Payne had a team-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds. Khadidja Toure had 13 points, I’Tiana Taylor had 12 and DeVaughn Gray scored 11.
