East Carolina University capped a spirited comeback and took the lead with eight seconds left. Seconds later the excitement would turn to heartbreak as ECU lost on a buzzer beater to James Madison University 73-72 Friday night at Minges.
ECU (1-1) redshirt junior forward Seth LeDay finished an and-one layup that put the Pirates ahead 72-71 eight seconds left in the second half. LeDay missed the free throw which would have put ECU ahead by two. After a timeout, JMU (2-0) guard Stuckey Mosley dribbled up the court and bobbled the ball. Mosley picked it up and tossed up a running left-handed floater from the left side which banked in as the buzzer sounded.
