Macy seeks ‘sustained effort’

After the East Carolina women’s basketball team’s latest defeat — an 83-63 loss to Temple in Minges Coliseum on Saturday — ECU sixth-year coach Heather Macy praised a hot Temple squad more than focusing on her team’s downfalls.

The 83 points were the most allowed by ECU during American Athletic Conference play and another outing giving up more than 75, but Macy and the Pirates are hoping more consistency on defense tonight will result in a needed win against Tulsa at 7 p.m. in Minges.

Tonight is also a transition game of sorts for the Pirates (9-12, 3-6 AAC) as they move from a difficult January into a portion of the schedule featuring mostly opponents in the bottom half of the league standings, but there are also two contests looming against undefeated and No.
