It was on March 17 when the No. 11 ranked East Carolina University baseball team got its 15th win of the season defeating the University of Maryland 3-0 on the road in College Park, Maryland. For one ECU player, it was something more than just a victory.
The win came with something special as the team had a total of eight hits, but Maryland never connected on one for the whole ballgame. That Sunday, the last game of the three game series against Maryland, sophomore left-handed pitcher Jake Kuchmaner threw a perfect game becoming the first one in ECU program history, the 28th in NCAA Division 1 history and the first one nationally since Feb.
