The Pirates (9-3) used the long ball to out-power the College of Charleston (7-5) in Game One of the tough mid-week matchup, coming from behind to win, 12-7.
Starting pitcher Chris Holba did not have his best outing on Tuesday night as he allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits over just two innings. The bullpen that has been lockdown for head coach Cliff Godwin was not as dynamic as usual but did enough over the last seven innings to get the win. Sam Lanier (2-1) was credited with the win after pitching 1 2/3 innings, while not allowing a hit, but walking two and giving up one earned run.
