Holton Ahlers named Pirates’ starting quarterback

Sophomore Holton Ahlers has been named the Pirates’ starting quarterback ahead of their match-up with North Carolina State University on Aug. 31, according to Stephen Igoe of 247sports.com.

Ahlers, who is listed at 6 feet 3 inches tall, has shown that he can benefit a team with both his arm and legs. During his true freshman season, Ahlers played in 10 games, garnering five starts and led ECU in both passing and rushing yards with 1,785 and 592 respectively.
