North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper spoke with Virginia’s Governor Ralph Northam to try to resolve the East Carolina University and Virginia Tech University football dispute this week.
The dispute led to cancelation of the Sept. 15 matchup that was supposedly to occur between the two teams.
Hurricane Florence hit North Carolina back on Sept. 14 and caused ECU officials to postpone its game with the Hokies. Instead, the team travel to Florida to prepare for its following matchup against the University of South Florida. Virginia Tech in response to the decision made by ECU officials, decided to cancel its future matchups with the Pirates in 2019, 2023 and 2025 that would take place in Greenville.
