This is an important week for East Carolina baseball coach Cliff Godwin.
On Monday — when the Pirates regrouped on campus and began preseason workouts in small groups — Godwin got to do what he describes as “flipping the switch” from offseason mode to in-season. What’s next is variations of practices until the Pirates play Feb. 19 against Longwood for the first of a three-game opening weekend series in Greenville.
Godwin is not looking that far ahead, but instead focusing on the day-to-day grind of January.
