Gameday: Temple at East Carolina

What might have seemed a fluke last November in the rain in Philadelphia was anything but, and even on dry land East Carolina will face one of its toughest football tests of the season tonight when the unbeaten Temple Owls swoop into Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

Like last season’s momentum-changing Temple victory, tonight’s 7 p.m. kickoff could likely serve as a springboard to the first-ever American Athletic Conference championship game. The Pirates (4-3, 2-1 AAC) and No. 22 Owls (6-0, 3-0) are the only two teams in the East Division with winning records heading into this week’s games.

But in ECU’s camp this week, there was no talk of revenge for last year’s 21-10 setback to the Owls on a raw, rain-soaked afternoon in which the Pirates coughed up the ball five times, and momentum in the East.
