“I thought the way we defended and rebounded was really good and you could tell how much we have worked on that during the break,” said ECU head coach Heather Macy. We did a nice job sharing the ball and we were successful within our system.”
The Pirates (8-3) were once again carried by the inside presence of forward Kristen Gaffney. She led the team with 21 points on 7-for-14 shooting, and grabbed 10 of the season-best 50 rebounds ECU pulled down during the game. Gaffney could’ve finished with even more points, but shot only 6-for-12 from the free-throw line, while Guard Lauren Tolson led Richmond with 16 points and eight rebounds.
