Three East Carolina University baseball players were selected in this year’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player draft: Dwanya Williams-Sutton by the San Diego Padres, Chris Holba by the St. Louis Cardinals and Connor Litton by the Philadelphia Phillies.
All three players have said they will sign with the organizations and go professional, forgoing their seniors seasons at ECU.
Williams-Sutton, a junior outfielder, was picked by the Padres in the fifth round with the 141st overall selection. Holba, a junior pitcher, was picked by the Cardinals with the 333rd overall pick in the 11th round. Litton, a junior third baseman, rounded it out by being picked by the Phillies with the 587th overall pick in the 20th round.
