Cliff Godwin has been committed to East Carolina University, turning down two SEC head coaching jobs in the last three years, determined to lead his alma mater to the College World Series. ECU reciprocated its commitment to Godwin Thursday, announcing a one-year extension of Godwin's contract as head baseball coach.
The new agreement, approved by the University Board of Trustees and announced by athletic officials Thursday, extends Godwin's existing contract to June 30, 2023.
"I'm extremely grateful to Chancellor Staton, Dave Hart and the East Carolina University Board of Trustees for allowing me and our staff to continue leading this program," Godwin said.
