The Pirates (2-4) ended their four-game losing streak in a game that went down to the final possession over the winless Broncos (0-6). ECU left the Thanksgiving Classic 1-1, after its win Sunday and a loss to Jacksonville State University 82-73 Saturday.
“Today was a gutted out, find-a-way (to) win (game) and I am really, really proud of their response,” head coach Heather Macy said, according to ECU Athletics. “We switched up what we were doing a little bit today and it made a huge difference.”
ECU shot just below 50 percent (43.3) from the field against Rider, with Claytor and center Thais Oliveira leading the way for the Pirates with 14 points each.
