After dominating all season with a 22-game winning streak, the East Carolina University women’s tennis team lost on Wednesday against the University of Cincinnati in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Championship.
The Pirates (22-3) played Cincinnati (12-10) less than a week ago where they prevailed at the end 4-3. They looked to continue their win streak on Wednesday but fell short and ended their year with a 1-4 loss. Cincinnati advanced to the AAC Championship Quarterfinals where it will take on No. 2 seed the University of Southern Florida.
ECU dropped the doubles point for only the fourth time this season, putting them behind early in the match.
