The Pirates jumped out to an early start in the first quarter with a 18-10 lead. The Vaqueros struggled to point points on the board, making just three out of 19 shots. In the second quarter the Vaqueros found their stroke from behind the arc, making six of 10 three pointers. The lead and momentum shifted heading into halftime with a score of 32-26 in the Vaqueros favor.
The Pirates went on an 11-0 run near the end of the third quarter to go ahead 46-42. ECU scored 24 points in the fourth quarter to secure a 70-59 victory.
