The East Carolina University women’s basketball team lost on Friday night to Duke University 83-66 at Cameron Indoor Stadium, as they played their first game with acting head coach Nicole Mealing.
The Pirates (9-3) struggled to put up points during the first half, especially in the first quarter, in which they scored a season low seven points. The poor offensive struggle carried to the end of the second quarter. During the first half, they shot 33.3 percent from the field, 16.7 percent from the three-point line and only shot eight free throws, going 4-for-8 from that department.
The team did not manage to control the ball as well, committing 14 turnovers during the first half.
