If the thousands of children in attendance at Minges Coliseum on Friday were tensely waiting for the East Carolina women’s basketball team to establish control against underdog Presbyterian, they saw it near the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second.
The Pirates quickly shook off a sluggish start during their annual Education Day event, pulling away from Presbyterian after a tight opening quarter for an 84-57 victory to remain unbeaten.
It was 15-15 at the 1:09 mark in the first before ECU (4-0) went on a 19-5 run behind Khadidja Toure and Jada Payne.
