The East Carolina University volleyball team will host its first invitational of the season, the Pirate Invitational, today and Friday. ECU will host Eastern Washington University, Gardner-Webb University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
The tournament will kick off against the Eastern Washington Eagles (5-2) today at 7 p.m. The Pirates have never faced Eastern Washington in the program’s history, and will look to defeat them in their first ever matchup. After watching and studying film, head coach Julie Torbett believes this will be a good and fresh contest for the team. So far this season the Eagles have posted the same record as the Pirates (5-2), and offer the Pirates another strong opponent before they head into American Athletic Conference play.
