“Defensively I was very pleased with my team, no qualms there,” said ECU head coach Jeff Lebo. “They posted winning numbers there so no problems there on defense, just on the offensive side of the ball.”
In a match-up of two of the country’s best defensive teams, the Pirates started off the game in a swarm of struggles and could not get it going until late in the game when it was too late. ECU had only 13 points at halftime as it fell behind 23-13 in the low-scoring contest.
In the second half ECU showed signs of life.
