The No. 9 East Carolina University baseball team missed its chance to claim second place in the American Athletic Conference after splitting its doubleheader with No. 23 University of Connecticut on Friday in Storrs, Connecticut.
ECU (39-15, 14-10 AAC) won the first game 6-3 but lost the second 4-2 and finishes tied with UConn (32-18-1, 14-10 AAC) and was named the fourth seed in the AAC tournament in Clearwater, Florida.
The Pirates were led in the first game by Bryant Packard, who had a strong game by going 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI’s. Spencer Brickhouse added another home run, and Alec Burleson had yet another win on the mound.
