The East Carolina University softball team (8-15) swept the competition on day two of the Hawai’i Spring Fling Tournament when it defeated Longwood University (9-8) and James Madison University (15-3) yesterday.
The Pirates put an end to the Dukes 12-game winning streak on Thursday night. This was the first time since March 6, 2016 that ECU has knocked off a nationally-ranked opponent. The victory was ECU’s first victory over JMU since March 4, 2007 over a span of five games. The Pirates improved to 6-5 against JMU in the all-time series.
Redshirt senior catcher Alex Mycek hit her first home run of the season and 20th career home run scoring the first for the pirates, tying with JMU at 1-1 in the second inning.
