The East Carolina University softball team defeated Wichita State University 5-0 today at the ECU Softball Stadium behind a complete game shutout from freshman pitcher Erin Poepping.
Poepping only gave up three hits to a Wichita State offense that has been batting .315 in American Athletic Conference games this season, and had previously hit a home run in seven straight games. Poepping’s five strikeouts and no walks helped to make the Pirates only the second team to shut out the Shockers all season.
This game was Poepping’s second shutout of the season, but the first since the first game of the season against St.
