Another loss from the East Carolina University softball team Tuesday evening earned the Pirates their sixth straight loss. The Pirates succumbed to Campbell University after the Camels scored the majority of their runs in the first inning, ending the game 8-3.
The Pirates (15-22) started off the game with two runs before Campbell (16-19) got up to bat and scored five runs, securing its lead early in the game. There were three Pirate errors on six Camel hits, closing out the inning with the bases loaded.
Scoring picked back up in the fourth inning when ECU scored one run while Campbell had runners on second and third and a home run hit from redshirt senior Elizabeth McMurray added three runs to the board.
