The Pirates lost their lead Sunday afternoon after the Golden Hurricane (26-7, 5-1 AAC) toppled ECU (18-21, 0-6 AAC), 11-3 in five-innings, to close out the sweep.
“It didn’t go very well. It didn’t go how we had planned or expected. We’re a little limited in the circle right now, and right now we just have to try and outscore our opponents,” head coach Courtney Oliver said.
For the first time in the series, the Pirates received a lead when junior first baseman Ali Ramirez crushed a 2-2 pitch over the left center field fence, putting ECU ahead 1-0, in the top of the second.
