After suffering its first loss of the year, the East Carolina University women’s soccer team bounced back against Campbell University Thursday night by getting a 2-0 victory in Johnson Stadium.
Entering Thursday night’s matchup, ECU (4-1-2) fell to George Mason University 2-1 on the road after going up 1-0 in the game early on Sunday. Campbell (1-5-0) on the other hand lost four straight games, going scoreless in all four after winning its season opener 4-1 against South Carolina State University on Aug. 17.
The first half was dominated by ECU. The Pirates jumped on the board with the 1-0 lead when junior defender Jayda Hylton-Pelaia not only scored the first goal for ECU, but the first of her collegiate career as well with 26:01 left in the period.
