ECU shuts out the Shockers; wins series

After dropping game one of the series, No. 16 ranked East Carolina University’s baseball team came back to win the weekend series against No. 18 Wichita State University with a 5-0 shutout victory in the game three.

“I’m just proud of our guys to lose the way we did on Friday in both weekends and respond the way we did,” head coach Cliff Godwin said. “This a tough group of guys and look at the injuries we had. Turner Brown goes down on Saturday and Dwanya (Williams-Sutton) has been out but these guys just keep battling.”

The Pirates scored their first run in the bottom of the fourth inning with redshirt sophomore catcher Jake Washer scoring on a double play from third baseman Connor Litton, negating him the RBI.
