East Carolina University scored five runs in the eighth inning to come from behind and defeat Tulane University 6-5 for its second American Athletic Conference tournament win on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida.
ECU (41-15) could not do anything off of Tulane (25-32) starting pitcher Kaleb Roper, as Roper gave up just one run through the first seven innings. When Roper went back out for the eighth inning, things unraveled for the Green Wave.
The inning started off with a walk, a single and another walk to load the bases. Jeremy Whitehead grounded into a double play as a run scored, and it seemed as though the damage would be limited.
