For the first eight innings, the game was a duel between starting pitchers Klye Cedotal and Evan Kruczynski.
“I don’t know his name, but he pitched one heck of a ballgame,” said Kruczynski when asked about Cedotal. “Putting up zero’s (runs) for eight straight innings, can’t ask for better competition there.”
The two pitchers threw a combined 243 pitches and faced over 30 batters each as they both went eight and one third innings. Neither pitcher allowed an extra base hit, and most hits were in the infield. Hits were scattered and there were no runs going into the ninth, but the energy quickly changed.
