After trailing for most of the first half and being down 34-26 at halftime, the Pirates mounted a fierce comeback in the opening minutes of the second half. A 3-pointer from B.J. Tyson and a Prince Williams layup tied the game at 42 with 13:35 left to play in the game.
The Pirates’ momentum was quickly halted by the Bearcats who responded with an 11-1 run in just over three minutes to take a 53-43 lead with 10:26 left to play.
The Pirates fought back, behind their successful 3-point shooting, to cut the lead to six points before Cincinnati’s Kevin Johnson hit a three to spark a 12-2 run for the Bearcats, putting the game away.
