The Pirates shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, 12-of-24 and 9-of-13 from the free throw line. ECU’s defense frustrated Tulane throughout the first half, causing it to commit 12 turnovers and shoot 41.7 percent from the field, 10-of-24. The Pirates pressure also led to seven steals in the opening half, four of those steals were by Kentrell Barkley.
As the second half progressed and throughout all three overtimes, ECU’s defense began to struggle and Tulane began to get easier baskets, which they often converted.
