The East Carolina University Pirates’ defense has seen a 180 degree turnaround under first-year defensive coordinator David Blackwell, while the offense has struggled. On Saturday it was the other way around in ECU’s 59-41 loss to the University of Memphis.
ECU (2-6, 0-4 AAC) posted 556 total yards of offense and scored a season-high 41 points. Unfortunately, the Pirates also gave up 639 total yards of offense and allowed a season-high 59 points to Memphis (5-4, 2-3 AAC).
"It's always frustrating when we know what they're doing and we can't really stop it," senior defensive back Devon Sutton, who had 11 tackles, said.
