After getting some firsts out of the way at Memphis on Sunday, East Carolina’s basketball team is now hoping for seconds.
The Pirates (9-11, 1-6 American Athletic Conference) upset the Tigers 84-83 in Tennessee for their first league victory of the season, their first road win since Feb. 28, 2015, and their first-ever triumph at Memphis. In addition to all of that, and snapping a six-game losing streak heading into tonight’s 7 o’clock home game against Temple, the win injected hope into what was becoming a season almost devoid of optimism, at least for some of those on the outside looking in.
