ECU Freshman named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week

East Carolina University’s Ariyana Williams was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman-of-the-Week Tuesday afternoon.

The American Athletic Conference named East Carolina University’s Ariyana Williams Freshman-of-the-Week Tuesday afternoon.

ECU joined the AAC in 2014. Since then, Williams is the first member of the ECU women’s basketball team to receive the AAC Freshman-of-the-Week honor.

Before her time as a Pirate, Williams attended Freedom High School in Morganton, North Carolina, where she recorded more than 2,000 points, 400 rebounds, 380 assists and 340 steals throughout her years as a Patriot. She also helped lead the team to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3A State Championship, where she was named MVP of the game.
