The East Carolina University football team has removed two players from its roster, sophomore tight end Eric Weber and senior defensive lineman Tyree Owens, head coach Scottie Montgomery announced on Friday.
Weber has been dismissed from the team altogether. He was already suspended indefinitely after being arrested on Feb. 23 for charges of multiple drug-related felonies. Weber sat out last season due to academic policy and was expected to sit out the entire spring practice period after an undisclosed injury.
Owens has been removed from the roster after an indefinite suspension for violating the team’s academic policy.
