Petersen’s hire marks the fifth official hire of the Montgomery coaching staff and the 49-year old offensive coordinator spent the last three seasons at Louisiana Tech, engineering an impressive offense.
His 2015 offensive squad ended the regular season ranked in the top 10 in school history in five different categories, including total yards, points scored, rushing touchdowns, passing touchdowns and passing yards. Those achievements landed him a nomination for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation’s top assistant.
Perhaps serving as his most prized accomplishment, Petersen helped transform former Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel into one of the nation’s best last season.
