"A key component of training camp is to develop team unity and an identity for the upcoming season," Montgomery said. "Not only will this trip serve as a bonding experience and rehearsal for road game preparation, it will be in a city we have a tremendous appreciation and value for. I'm excited to take our football team to Charlotte and for them to enjoy an opportunity to meet another passionate part of Pirate Nation."
As promised, Montgomery and company put on a 50-play scrimmage at Rocky River High School that was open to the public. With it being only the second scrimmage of training camp, a lot of questions loomed, particularly if the defense could respond to a below average performance against the offense in the first scrimmage.
