Anderson’s latest stop was as a defensive assistant at Vanderbilt for the past three seasons, during which he helped mold the Commodores’ linebacker unit along side new East Carolina defensive coordinator Kenwick Thompson.
"Ryan is a dynamic young coach whose successful background in the SEC and knowledge of our defensive philosophy was a perfect match," Montgomery said. "I don't think there is any question his group will quickly embody his energy and passion."
Anderson focused primarily on linebackers and defensive ends during his three-year stint in Nashville, and was part of a staff that helped Vanderbilt finish near the top nationally in a multitude of categories.
