ECU took an early 4-3 lead and held it for 21 seconds, but once the 49ers pulled ahead the Pirates played catch up for the rest of the game. Charlotte forward Grace Hunter paced the matchup with a game-high 23 points, while teammate sophomore guard Laia Raventós scored 14 points and added six assists with six rebounds. The pace the 49ers set was too fast for the Pirates to keep up, as they outscored ECU 17-9 off of fast breaks.
"It was really disappointing,” ECU head coach Heather Macy said. “We dug ourselves too big of a hole and did not defend the way we needed to.
