Bakri Abushouk and Grace Sullivan shone during East Carolina University’s cross country team’s success at the American Athletic Championships this past weekend up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Bakri finished in fourth place in the 8k with a time of 25:18, putting him in the position for an all-conference title. Not far behind was junior Nick Ciaccia, finishing in 14th place with a time 26:01, also earning all-conference title. Six seconds later, sophomore Dean Abushouk finished in 17th place at 26:07 in the 8k, earning an all-conference mention.
“I feel like our team did something very special. With a fourth-place team finish, that’s the highest team placing this program has ever seen,” Bari said.
