Starting pitcher Jake Agnos threw a career-high 10 strikeouts to help guide the ECU baseball team to a 5-3 victory over conference foe Tulane Sunday afternoon, which clinched the weekend series win for the Pirates.
Agnos threw a total of 7 1/3 innings, allowing only one run off of four hits, while walking five batters. The freshman, making his seventh start of the season for ECU (24-21, 4-11 American Athletic Conference), threw a total of 115 pitches in a dominating performance. After leaving the game in the eighth inning, Agnos was replaced by Matt Bridges, who allowed two late runs in the top of the ninth but Tulane’s (22-23, 9-6 AAC) slight rally wasn’t enough, as the Green Wave came up two runs short.
