East Carolina University’s baseball team was unable score runs when it mattered most, dropping its opening weekend series game to the University of Houston in a score of 5-4.
“The margin of error is very small in this league and Houston made one more pitch than we did tonight,” head coach Cliff Godwin said. “They were just a little bit better on the mound and offensively than us. I thought we played good defense, but they scored one more run.”
The Pirates got on the board first with a monster solo home run from sophomore first baseman Spencer Brickhouse.
