Coming off of an American Athletic Conference championship win and surrounded by a sold-out Clark-LeClair home crowd, the East Carolina University baseball team gave the almost entirely purple and gold crowd the excitement it had been anticipating in its first regional in Greenville since 2009.
ECU’s offense unloaded for 16 runs, scoring in each of the first five innings in its 16-7 win over the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in its first game of the NCAA Tournament regional round at Clark-Leclair Stadium. ECU had four players record multi-hit games as part of the Pirates recording 17 hits as a team, while nine different players recorded at least one RBI.
