For ECU, entering its eighth game of the season with one sack was nonetheless embarrassing. So a four-sack performance Saturday was exactly what a team ranked last in sacks nationally needed.
"Getting those guys to understand bringing pressure from here, whether it was a corner, whether it was a safety, whether it was a nickel, whether it was a 'backer, it's putting stress on your corners in one-on-one situations,” said ECU head coach Scottie Montgomery about the lack of pressure.
Though still ranked last in sacks despite the four-sack performance, the Pirates saw just how productive their defense can be when getting production up front.
