East Carolina University’s soccer team continued its historic start this weekend with an impressive tie against Virginia and a blowout win vs UNC Wilmington.
A tie may not be what ECU wanted, but the Virginia Cavaliers came into Sunday’s game ranked No. 5 in the country and were heavily favored to win the game. According to head coach Rob Donnenwirth, the Pirates had to use will over skill to pull out a tie against a superior Virginia team.
"We obviously played with so much heart and even at times, when we knew they were going to have some possession against us, we were able to change that momentum throughout the game,” Donnenwirth said.
