The East Carolina University baseball team dominated game three today against the No. 7 ranked University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 12-0, behind both solid pitching and batting performances.
After both teams went scoreless in the first three innings, the Pirates managed to get three runs coming off of RBI’s from right-fielder Chandler Jenkins and catcher Jake Washer. Washer hit his first career triple, bringing in two runs, helping ECU take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth.
“Well, I just got a good pitch to hit,” Washer said. “I was sitting on fastball and I got it, and I was able to do something good with it and it sparked us to get a couple more runs and turned out to be 12 runs.
