East Carolina suffers 31-13 road loss to UConn

The Pirate offense looked to have completely crashed from what it was earlier in the season, staying in its recent out-of-sync slump. The unit didn’t score in the game’s first three quarters, extending its scoreless streak to five quarters.

ECU put an end to the streak in the fourth quarter however, when quarterback Blake Kemp scored on a two-yard rush.

ECU’s other touchdown came in the first quarter when safety DaShawn Benton jumped a route and intercepted UConn’s Bryant Shirreffs’ pass for a 32-yard pick six touchdown. UConn then managed to block the extra point attempt.

The Pirates were previously undefeated under head coach Ruffin McNeill when scoring a defensive touchdown.
